Mache Letters

I have been looking for ways to personalise the children's bedroom and after a trip to Hobbycraft found that the Mache letters are currently half price - bargain! So I bought the Children's initials to hang above their beds.

I gave them a base coat of white acrylic paint and then two coats of coloured acrylic paint. I then decorated them with spots and stripes and secured them to the wall with sticky fixers.

I'm pleased with how they turned out and think they look very cute above their beds.

We have now bought a set of their cardboard alphabet so we can paint them and stick them along one wall - pictures to follow shortly.

I'm happy with the direction the bedroom is going in, I'm glad we painted it white and love their knitted blankets on top of plain white bedding from Sainsburys. I need a trip to Ikea for some shelves and picture frames, and want to make a pompom garland with the pompom maker I got for Mothers day, and then I think its done.

How have you personalised your Child's bedroom?

Crochet ~ Granny Stripe Blanket Progress

My granny stripe blanket is growing quite nicely, I find it quite relaxing in the evening once the kids are in bed to sit and get a few rows done. Its nice to see it grow before your eyes too, unlike the granny squares.

I am using Stylecraft special DK yarn from Wool Warehouse in white, silver and aster.

It still needs a lot more rows but I'm already thinking about what kind of border to add, I have bought a couple of crochet books with some lovely blankets in but have mainly been looking for inspiration on pinterest:

Follow Tracy @IHeartHome's board I Heart...Crochet on Pinterest.

What kind of border do you think I should go for? Something simple or wavy?

Garden Tealight Holders

I recently won a set of gorgeous tealight holders from Red Lilly's store via a giveaway run on Karen Barlows blog. I never win anything so was very excited, when the parcel arrived it was so beautifully packed that I didn't want to open it! There are four tea light holders in the set, each one a different colour with a metal hanger which I love!

For more info on the set click here.

The tealight holders are currently on my garden table but seen as they have such cute metal hanging loops, I'm thinking of hanging them on the pergola - perfect for summer evenings!

Excuse the table - its in much need of some tlc this Summer!

The Red Lilly online store is full of gorgeous items for the home and garden - pop over and take a look!

Shopping in France

I have shown the Streets in France from our recent holiday, so thought I would now show you some of the Shopping in France.

There was a night market really close to our campsite filled with handmade goodies:

This was night time I promise!

Lots of shops were selling these decorative drawer knobs so I bought quite a few for our bedroom:

I found a very cute second hand store with a blue mirror which I fell in love with but we couldn't have got it home (not in one piece anyway):

A lovely shop full of French homeware:

I was very excited when I saw this advert for a Brocante market - Dirty Weekenders here I come!!

The Brocante market was lovely, and on the sea front too!

I couldn't resist a couple of French linen tea towels.

If we weren't flying I could easily have bought a lot on this holiday so probably a good job we were!! I still keep thinking about the blue mirror.....
