Growing Sweet Peas ~ Moving them Outdoors

The sun is out so I have taken a risk and moved my Sweet Peas from the kitchen windowsill to the back garden. I just hope we don't get another frost! I'm not sure how much longer I could keep them indoors though, they were getting out of control:

Getting them out of that pot and into the ground was not an easy task, they were completely knotted together! I spent ages trying to separate them but to no avail, so eventually just placed the whole thing against the wigwam and hoped for the best! I have tied some of it to the wigwam and tried to send some of it in different directions but just hope the weight of the big clump doesn't pull it down! (Hope all that made sense!)

Fingers crossed I will get lots of pretty flowers! How are you getting on with your Sweet Peas?

Today I am joining in with this party:

Thank you for reading xx

  1. Hi Tracy
I did exactly the same as you but mine have failed to climb the wigwam and are just sort of flopped over. But they are still green so I am still a teeny bit hopeful that I will get some flowers. Though they will be more like trailing sweet peas!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that yours are a success. Keep us posted!

    1. Hello Mandy, I am a little worried about mine too! They have had lots of sun since I put them out and I have watered them at night but they seem to have lost their green :( Fingers crossed they will start climbing soon. I think I would be happy to just get one flower :)

    1. Hello Janice, welcome to my blog! This is the first time I have tried to grow them so am still learning, mine are in full sun now but seem a bit droopy and less green :(
I have no idea how they grow in the wild when they seem to need so much attention - very unfair!

  3. I have not had luck with sweet peas, even with transplanting the roots, I will try again this year, When did you seed them or did you buy the plant? Love yours in the pail.

    1. Hello, Thank you! I bought three small plants - I will see how these go before attempting growing them from seed :) I have had the plants on my kitchen windowsill since February and moved them outdoors this week x

  4. I love Sweet Peas and will be sowing them directly into the ground this weekend. I soak them first and they seem to sprout fast. Yours will be blooming in no time. I often call my grandies, sweet pea.
